Sex Ed for Men at Midlife
For most of us, sex education amounted to a birds and bees talk with dad and perhaps some excruciating classes in school about abstinence and/or the importance of using a condom. However, there’s so much more to it, particularly when it comes to sexual health at midlife, when things don’t work quite as they used to.
That’s where my Episode 17 guest Jackson Hightower comes in. Jackson’s life mission is to educate men about the connection between their health and their sexual function.
During our episode, Jackson highlights the crucial differences between men and women in the bedroom, e.g. men usually approach sex with urgency while women need time to warm up. As such, patience is key for guys. And for guys coming out of a long-term relationship and facing performance anxiety, Jackson counsels authenticity and offers strategies to lower stress levels and increase intimacy.
We talk about the unrealistic expectations set by pornography, which can lead to porn-induced erectile dysfunction (even for the under 35 set), and discuss other psychological and physiological factors that contribute to ED.
Jackson offers natural solutions to improve sexual health, such as lifestyle changes, exercise, natural supplements (rather than hormones) to enhance testosterone levels, and he also addresses the impact of body fat on testosterone production.
I hope you’ll give this episode a listen as I strongly believe that it offers valuable insights and actionable steps for creating fulfilling intimate relationships and optimizing sexual health. Explore the show notes for further information and to share the podcast with others who might benefit from these essential discussions.
And the one thing that men should start doing today to improve their sexual health: Kegels. According to Jackson, there’s no other practice that will have as big an impact on your sexual health.
All the best, Jon
